Larry Stein
Co-Founder | Chief Executive Officer | Investor
Larry Stein is the Co-Founder, Chief Executive Officer, and an Investor at Trivex, a private investment company connecting capital, companies, and commodities. He leads the firm’s investment strategy, acquisition activities, principal capital deployment, and global commodities initiatives, drawing on more than four decades of entrepreneurial leadership and operating experience.
Throughout his career, Larry has built businesses by identifying opportunity where others saw complexity. His experience spans global commodities, industrial operations, logistics, manufacturing, strategic acquisitions, and business development, providing a practical understanding of how exceptional companies are built, operated, and grown.
Larry began his career in 1986 with Luria Brothers, then the largest scrap procurement and brokerage organization in the United States, where he ultimately led the Houston office. He later established and expanded the U.S. trading platform for CFF Recycling, now part of Derichebourg, opening five trading offices across the country and building a significant North American presence.
In 2001, Larry was recruited to establish the trading organization for Metal Management. Following the company’s acquisition by Sims Metal Management, he created and led the North American Trading (NAT) group, helping strengthen Sims’ leadership position within the global metals recycling industry.
In 2010, Larry founded Tri Coastal Trading, building it into the largest independent ferrous metals processing and trading company on the U.S. Gulf Coast. Under his leadership, the company earned a reputation for operational excellence, disciplined execution, trusted customer relationships, and market leadership before its successful acquisition by Sims Metal in 2026.
Today, Larry leads Trivex with the same entrepreneurial mindset that has defined his career. Whether acquiring businesses, investing long-term capital, or structuring complex international commodity transactions, he believes lasting success is built on integrity, relationships, disciplined decision-making, and a willingness to think beyond the next quarter.
His focus is simple: partner with exceptional people, allocate capital wisely, and build businesses that future generations will be proud to own.
